This weekend Cedars-Sinai Medical Center joined The Mayo Clinic and Duke University Medical Center in allowing their patients access to integrate personal health data into their electronic medical record using Apple HealthKit. This update to the hospital’s medical records system enabled access through HealthKit to more than 80,000 patients.
The implementation of HealthKit at Cedars-Sinai allows patients using HealthKit to integrate personal medical information with their patient medical records and can provide online access to their healthcare providers. Distance ambulated, blood pressure, weight, body mass index, glucometer readings and oxygen saturation levels are among the types of data that can be monitored through HealthKit.
